Layout 136 - Darth Vader Saga

Star Wars Darth Vader Series
Series: Star Wars Date: 2007 Coding: div Font: Star Wars, Engravers MT, Calibri Type: Fanlisting

Design
August 14, 2007. This layout was to be header based and really easy to read and distinguish. The only thing that set it apart was the header navigation which looked very nice with the hover links. It was originally designed for GalaxyFarFarAway .

Challenge
The hardest thing was the usage of photographs and to come up with a suitable navigation.

Process
This layout took approximately 7 hours. After watching Star Wars a couple of time, I was really itching to make a Star Wars layout that would be nice. So, I decided to contact Amy, the owner of the Star Wars fanlisting, and ask her if I might donate a layout to her fanlisting. To my surprise, she said okay and so I went off to make this layout. The thing is, I don’t use too many humans in my layouts in general, so it was interesting to make this interactive while having some nice pictures. I collected lots of images from everywhere, and cut them out. My idea was to have a set of pictures that would change according to the movies, even giving the users a chance to make the inside images rotate themselves as an animated gif. So, I added Darth Vader first, cutting off his face, since I thought it looked cool that way, and added images from all of the movies, which, when clicked on in the main bar on the top, would change. I thought it was a really nice idea, and to do so I put them into an iframe so that the user would not have to load the picture over and over again. It turned out really great this way.

I really loved the way this layout turned out, and the only thing I sort of regret is the way I set up the header, I think a smaller font might have looked nicer, but I set it up this way since it seemed to be nice enough to read and matched with the other skins. The footer was a nice way to spice up everything, which I included the site name in, so that I might not clutter up the header image more than needed. The color scheme with Green matched really well actually (I chose it in contrast to Amy’s other skins)

Description
Darth Vader, with his mask cut off, an iframe on the side with some images from Star Wars, changing according to the episode clicked on. Underneath this, are the images for the main links, allowing for change in the codes and so forth. Plain and professional layout.
