Theme Flying through an evening spring sky

Design
May 16, 2009. This layout was designed to play around with coloring black and white images and once again painting a scene. I used around 15 different images to piece this together and then used multiple gradients to have the sky effect. With so many different colors it was a bit difficult to choose the shades for coloring. The centerpiece was actually not the top header, but the bottom footer. The footer took the longest since it had many different images that were added to make it a whole. I used the header to highlight the entire layout and then the balls as navigation so it would be something out of the ordinary. I loved the glow effect and the range of colors in the sky. Since the gradients itself looked very plain I added different shades of texture in the background with default brushes so it would give it more feel instead of really flat.

Challenge
The gradient in the sky was actually a risk factor. It looked very “out there” especially with the blue going into the yellow like that. To balance it out I had to use textured brushes to add different colors into the gradient so it would not look too solid. Piecing everything together and having random placement of the Dragonball’s was also more difficult than it looks.
